L.S.C. Dutta Memorial Lecture

Prof. (Late) Sudhindra Chandra Datta, a renowned professor of Mathematics at St. Anthony's College and an alumnus of the University of Dhaka, was an educationist of note and the founder Principal of Shillong College. He served the college for about fifteen long years as Principal. A true visionary and a dedicated academician, he led a committed group of intelligentsia and laid the foundation of this glorious institution on 15th August, 1956. Leading from the front, he gave the institution much needed financial stability at the initial years of its growth and remained committed to strengthening the Public Education System all his life.

It is only befitting that the Shillong College fraternity celebrates the life and works of Late S. C. Dutta, his courage and leadership, to help raise a future band of leaders who will emulate and imbibe his spirit of service and be the vanguards of change.

The S. C. Dutta Memorial Lecture was instituted in the year 2014 in memory of this mammoth figure to help recall his contributions by the future generation of teachers and students each time the flag of Shillong College is raised.
